EU Commission Motorcycle Working Group meeting 27.11.18
FIM holds observer status in this working group. The many working groups of the Commission are responsible for the details of legislation that has been delegated to them by the European Parliament. In this case it is the forthcoming Euro 5 regulations for motorcycles. On the agenda for next Tuesday items include: The policy study for a proposal on Euro 5 noise emissions levels. A Type Approval proposal (made by the Commission) with regard to the withdrawal of the UK from the EU. – Brexit as it is known. Motorcycle have to be sold in the EU that comply with EU law. The issue is whether this testing and approval regime can be conducted by test house in the UK after Brexit or whether manufacturers such as Triumph will have to move to using facilities inside the EU before they can market their products.
