FIA Foundation makes first donation to the new UN Road Safety Trust Fund with donation of $10 million dollars
Following on from several years of planning UN Secretary-General António Guterres has established this new trust fund. The first donation was made on 12 April with the presentation of a cheque for ten million US dollars by FIA Director-General Saul Billingsley at a ceremony in the United Nations headquarters in New York.
Further pledges were made by the French petroleum company Total and the company 3M both of which will add more funds in the next few weeks.
The launch was attended by the UN Deputy Secretary-General Ms. Amina Mohammed together with other UN staff and ambassadors. Delegates at the UN Road Safety Collaboration meetings also attended an evening reception to celebrate this milestone for road safety hosted by Bloomberg Philanthropies.
