FIM prepares for the next CEN meeting on PPE standards for road riding motorcyclists. – Vienna 3 and 4 May 2018
With a new European Union law now in force the market for personal protective equipment is changing rapidly. Since the 1989 EU legislation most garments bought by riders have had only the impact protectors certified to CEN standards. The new EU PPE Regulation changes this.
With new products the whole garment has to be tested. Experience has been gained in some market sectors where manufacturers have used the old CEN standard in full.
FIM holds observer status with CEN. The May meetings will be an opportunity to discuss how the new Regulation is affecting the market. Director of Public Affairs John Chatterton-Ross will represent FIM.
