United Nations Global Forum for Road Traffic Safety (WP1) – special session on automated and semi-automated vehicles, Geneva 3-4 May 2018
WP1 is responsible for the Geneva and Vienna Conventions that deal with the international aspects of driving and riding. Back in 1949 there was no concept of the driverless car…..nor was there in 1968 with the Vienna Convention. Or the later agreements in 1998 which increased the scope of this United Nations work. The issue has become so important that in addition to its regular meetings held every year in March and September the UN Global Forum is holding additional special sessions devoted to this subject. For motorcyclists (and for other road users such as pedestrians and cyclists) who will not be inside new style cars this issue is important. FIM will be present at this next session represented by Francesca Marozza, member of the FIM Public Affairs Commission.
