FIM awards ENEL Colombia
In the frame of the “Congreso Latinoamericano de Motociclismo” that took place in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia the 25 and 26 of October, FIM has been honoured to present the Prize for the Successful action in Responsible Motorcycling to ENEL. The award was received by Doctor Fernando Murcia Quijano MD., Director of the HSEQ Unit of ENEL Colombia. ENEL has been awarded for its implementation of a Programme of Work-place safety for Motorcycle Workers that enabled them to reduce by over 99% the rate of accidents for motorcyclists, making them a global example of corporate motorcycle use.
Through this action the company succeeded in reducing the rate of motorcycle accidents to ZERO as shown on the chart with ENEL's latest statistics. These results make ENEL a case study for success at global level showing how the motorcycle can be the solution for the last mile in the logistics of companies in the commercial and services sectors.
Damiano Zamana, FIM Programmes Director “It is with great honour that I received the invitation to award ENEL Colombia with this prize. FIM, as motorcycling global advocate praises all corporations and industries whose employees use motorcycles for professional reasons, or simply to commute, to adopt Road Safety Model allowing a reduction in motorcyclists’ fatalities. It is a social obligation but also an economic benefit, to decrease the absences from work and to grant a durable professional presence at the workplace”.
