Connected Motorcycle Consortium conference at EICMA
On the occasion of the EICMA exhibition, the Connected Motorcycle Consortium conference took place in Milan, Italy. Representatives from all participating motorcycle manufacturers and associated members attended the event. It has been the moment to share the results achieved in the development of use cases and first steps taken into the dissemination and promotion of proposed solutions, while presenting the way ahead for the last phase of the consortium activities.
The Working Group coordinators have presented a resume of last year activities and the steps ahead until the completion of CMC tasks, which will mainly be within 2019-2020 period. The communication architecture has been developed and tested. The implementation activities are on-going that will be followed by the demonstration and evaluation phase.
The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), as associate member, has been appointed “Public Relations coordinator”, an important role especially at this last phase of the CMC actions. Additionally, FIM will coordinate future activities that are associated with the CMC involvement in funded research projects, which concern V2V communication and vehicle automation.
Guest organizations ERTICO and IMMA shared their views on the development of future connected mobility and described the activities and tasks within the groups and their role in the vehicle connectivity development/technologies.
The conference hosted the CMC’s presidency changing ceremony; Mr. T. Kinoshita (Yamaha) took over from Prof. K. V. Schaller (BMW).
